Meet Jacqueline Horton

Jacqueline Horton was born and spent her childhood in the north of England.
After a successful career in nursing and midwifery, Jacqueline obtained an LL.B with honours from the University of London, England in 1996. After moving to Victoria, British Columbia she completed her Canadian legal qualifications and received an LL.B from the University of Victoria.
Having completed her articles and practised as an associate at one of Victoria's leading firms, Jacqueline formed The Genesis Law Group, which opened its doors in December 2004.
Jacqueline has a broad practice as both a solicitor and barrister. She has appeared in the British Columbia Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and represented clients at a Coroner's Inquest.
Jacqueline's solicitor's practice includes Real Estate, Wills and Estates, and Corporate Commercial Law.
Jacqueline's special interest and preferred area of practice lies in the area of Elder Law, which encompasses planning for mental and physical incapacity and adult guardianship.
A recent career highlight was winning the 2011 Black Press Women in Business Above and Beyond Award.
When not practising law, Jacqueline is a member of several volunteer boards in the community, enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with her husband and daughter.
